NSW coffee cup mandate faces repeal
THE NSW Government plans to scrap its reusable coffee cup mandate after the March 2027 election, following criticism from businesses and the Opposition. Environment Minister Penny Sharpe confirmed the proposed reversal, while the Liberals and Nationals pledged to introduce legislation seeking immediate repeal. Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said businesses needed certainty before Christmas. The Coalition argues the mandate imposes unnecessary costs and red tape on struggling cafés and small businesses.
