Local family business keeps local commercial sites running
A NORTH Parramatta family business founded in 2008 is continuing into its second generation, helping maintain the commercial spaces where locals work, shop and access everyday services.
Founded by Colin Khoury and now led by his son Michael, N www.nicheworks.com.auicheWorks provides maintenance and building works for commercial, corporate and retail clients across Parramatta and surrounding areas, with operations extending across NSW and the ACT.
Its local work includes servicing Woolworths, Officeworks, SkinKandy, childcare centres and Return and Earn sites, helping businesses maintain safe, functional premises for staff and customers.
Michael Khoury says the work behind keeping commercial sites operating can often go unnoticed.
“When people walk into a shop or drop their children at childcare, they expect the space to be safe, functional and ready to use,” says Mr Khoury.
“Our role is to help businesses keep those spaces maintained while being mindful of the staff and customers who are using them.”
Working in operating commercial environments requires coordination with site staff, clear communication and tidy work areas throughout each job.
For Michael, understanding that process began on the administration side of the family business, where he gained first-hand experience coordinating teams and the jobs they carried out.
“Starting in administration gave me an understanding of what goes into each job, from coordinating the team to keeping the client informed,” says Mr Khoury.
“It gave me a clear understanding of how our work supports clients’ day-to-day operations and laid the foundation for growing NicheWorks after I took over.”
While NicheWorks now services clients across NSW and the ACT, North Parramatta remains central to its story, having supported businesses in the area since its establishment.
“My dad started NicheWorks in North Parramatta and continuing that family business is something I’m proud of,” says Mr Khoury.
