Funds committed to refurbish Toongabbie Bridge

THE NSW Government has committed additional funding to refurbish Toongabbie Bridge, taking total investment in improvements around the bridge to almost $30M. The project builds on the State Government’s existing $2M commitment and a $25M contribution from the Albanese Government to upgrade nearby Wentworth Avenue. The refurbishment will improve safety and extend the life of the bridge by replacing rusted safety screens, repairing footpaths, treating structural rust, removing vegetation and repainting line markings. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year. The works complement planned upgrades to Wentworth Avenue, including extra traffic lanes, intersection improvements, new traffic signals and additional pedestrian crossings, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2027. Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison said the investment would ensure Toongabbie Bridge remained a safe, reliable connection for motorists and pedestrians for decades to come.
