The long journey of assistance dogs
ASSISTANCE Dogs Australia is celebrating 30 years of providing life-changing support during International Assistance Dog Week. The organisation breeds and trains accredited assistance dogs for Australians with physical disabilities, autism and PTSD. Each dog costs more than $60,000 and takes around two years to prepare. With demand exceeding availability, ADA aims to increase the number of Australians it supports by 50 per cent by 2028.
