THE Matildas return to Stadium Australia this Sunday, March 8 for their final group stage match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup against Korea Republic with a sellout crowd expected to swarm Sydney Olympic Park.

Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Howard Collins said those heading out to see our Aussie stars in action should use public transport, which is included in their tickets to avoid traffic delays.

“Matildas and Korea Republic fans should leave the car behind and catch public transport to the match as plenty of extra services will be running to get you there and home again,” Mr Collins said.

“Express trains and major event buses will run frequently from mid-afternoon. Fans are encouraged to get there early and soak up the buzzing atmosphere in the precinct before the game.

“Travel on all modes of public transport is included in game day tickets. Simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.”

Express trains will run frequently from Central Station and key western stations to Olympic Park from mid-afternoon, with return services running after the game until late each night. Trains also run regularly between Lidcombe and Olympic Park.

Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run frequently on all nine routes from mid-afternoon. The last return bus on each route will leave Olympic Park around an hour after the match has finished Sunday night.

Trackwork is taking place over the weekend with a full closure of the Sydney Metro line and the City Circle. If you’re coming from the city, use the light rail to get to Central for direct services.

Also, buses will replace T5 Cumberland Line trains between Leppington and Glenfield and T8 Airport & South Line trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central via the Airport. Fans should plan ahead before leaving home and allow extra travel time.

“If you need to drive, it is essential that you pre-book parking online to secure a spot as spaces may sell out in advance. Alternatively, consider parking at a station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train or bus to Olympic Park at no extra cost,” Mr Collins continued.

“Motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads as heavy traffic is expected on approach to Olympic Park.”

After the game, please be patient and allow up to an hour of additional travel time to exit car parks.
