Public transport to AC/DC Sydney shows

RETURNING to Australia for the first time in nearly a decade, legendary Aussie band AC/DC is bringing their POWER UP tour to Sydney, performing to more than 70,000 fans on Friday 21 and Tuesday 25 November at Accor Stadium in Olympic Park. On Friday, the precinct will see another 15,000 fans travel to Qudos Bank Arena next door for the Rüfüs Du Sol concert.
Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Howard Collins said AC/DC fans are urged to use public transport included in their concert tickets to avoid traffic delays.
“With large crowds travelling to Olympic Park during the busy weeknight peak ahead of each show, fans travelling locally and from the regions are encouraged to plan their trip and consider public transport to get to and from Olympic Park.”
“Extra transport services including express trains and major event buses will be running frequently from mid-afternoon. Fans are encouraged to get there early and soak up the rocking atmosphere in the precinct before each show.
“Travel on all modes of public transport is included in AC/DC concert tickets. Simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.” Mr. Collins said.
Express trains will run frequently from Central Station and key Western Line Stations to Olympic Park from mid-afternoon, with return services running after the show until late. Services will also run regularly from Lidcombe direct to Olympic Park.
Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run frequently on all nine routes running between 3:40pm and 7pm approximately, depending on the route. The last return bus on each route will leave Olympic Park at midnight, about an hour after the show has finished each night.
Fans who need to drive must pre-book parking ahead of time to secure a space. Pre-booked parking is sold out on Friday 21 November, and is selling fast for Tuesday 25 November.
“If you haven’t pre-booked parking for Friday, don’t drive to the precinct as parking is sold out. Parking is selling fast for Tuesday, so if you need to drive pre-book in advance. Alternatively, consider parking at a station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train or bus to Olympic Park, at no extra cost.
“Motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads as heavy traffic is expected on approach to Olympic Park.”
After the show, traffic will be very heavy as everyone leaves the precinct at the same time. Fans should allow up to an hour of additional travel time to exit car parks.
There is no major trackwork taking place on the rail network on Friday 21 or Tuesday 25 November.
