Nguyen Thi Dieu, 88, was one of 135 patients screened at the Thanh Binh commune eye clinic in Cung Liem district. She was diagnosed with cataract along with 35 of the other patients. Dieu was so happy that The Fred Hollows Foundation was going to provide treatment for her cataract that she sprang from her seat to embrace Gabi Hollows. Many poor people in Vietnam can’t afford cataract surgery without the help of organisations like The Foundation.
